The Avi Fox-Rosen Band brings you Absurdist Rock Cabaret. Whisper to wail singing accompanied by screaming accordion, junk yard razor blade guitar playing, cantankerous marimba, and grooves that make your backside weep. A spiffy dressed man takes the stage and escorts you through a universe populated by hot girls on bikes, religious fundamentalists who worship themselves, and renegade criminal bankers. Enjoy your evening.
Avi Fox-Rosen sings and guitars, joined by Art Bailey on accordion, Chris Berry on drums, Benjy Fox-Rosen on bass, Jon Singer on marimba, xylophone and percussion, and frequent collaborators Michael Winograd on clarinet and/or Tina Richerson on bari sax.
But who is Avi Fox-Rosen, the man of moderate obscurity who is trailblazing in this field of Absurdist Rock Cabaret? Avi is a refugee from plastic Los Angeles, currently living and working Brooklyn, NY. A busy guitarist who rocks with Yiddish Princess, shreds with Infection, marches with artist and activist Jenny Romaine, entertains with kiddie rocker Shirlala. He can occasionaly be found lugging various pieces of instrumental gear to and fro with The Himalayas, Pharaoh's Daughter, Benjy Fox-Rosen, Adrienne Cooper + many more.
When not playing, traveling, practicing, or booking, Avi is an avid reader of religious texts and fairy tales, mystic philosophy and pornography, comic books and news papers. He's an devoted yogi when he remembers to be. Enjoys fine wine and Coca-Cola. Gave up on vegetarianism and faith, but is having much more fun without either hindrance. Hope to see you soon!
