Catch the Debut Performance of the Church of Babel. A new musical / theatrical / puppet / cabaret / satire conceived and created by Ora Fruchter and Avi Fox-Rosen. Where ?? New Yiddish Repertory Theater in the Workmen's Circle 45 E. 33rd St Imagine a Godless city, full of faith seekers, suckers, and those easily led astray. The beacon of light to guide you is The Church of Babel, where your preacher is a compulsive gambler blindly leading his flock into oblivion! In this debut performance of Act 1, we find religious imagery usurped by greed, presenting a delightful parody of power, desire, and religious charisma. The Church of Babel is a fully sung musical theater / opera piece, with puppetry and live actors. To get us started on the right foot, the evening will begin with a set of music by multi-lingual, accordion toting chanteuse Mira Stroika. Church of Babel: Concieved and Composed by Avi Fox-Rosen. Direction, Visual Conception, and Puppetry by Ora Fruchter. With: Aaron Berk, Jenn Kiddwell, and many more !
